Jarhead Salute

about

A good friend of mine and I decided to crank out a rocking tune for a buddy of ours off at USMC boot camp. At the time the three of us were like brothers (a la Moe, Curly and Shemp), and our humor--like that of many brothers--was less than delicate. So, some of the words and themes might strike the unaware listener as, by today's standards, grossly homophobic and out of step with the world. You have been warned.

This was 88 or 89, so like everything at that time it was recorded on the Fostex X-15. Meaning - the world's easiest/cheatiest speed manipulation knob! For the voice and lead guitar we *really* took advantage of that feature. If you don't know me, just know that 1., there's NO way I could play a guitar lead that fast, and 2, the singing wasn't meant to be quite the Sesame Street character that it turned out to be, but in the end Terryl (drummer) and I decided that made the tune even more of a riot.
